On January 20, 2025, Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States, marking an unprecedented return to the White House. 

**Immigration and Border Security**

President Trump has prioritized stringent immigration reforms, including mass deportations and bolstered border security. Plans are underway to deploy additional border agents and construct new detention facilities. The administration aims to revoke "catch-and-release" policies and reinstate the "Remain in Mexico" policy. 

**Trade Policies and Tariffs**

In an effort to reduce the U.S. trade deficit and encourage domestic manufacturing, President Trump has proposed aggressive tariffs. This includes a 10% general import tariff and a 60% tariff on Chinese goods. Such measures are expected to face international backlash, particularly from European allies who may retaliate with tariffs on U.S. exports. 

**Healthcare and Abortion Policies**

Plans include preventing transgender women from participating in women's sports and reinstating the 1776 Commission to promote a "patriotic" interpretation of American history. 

**Housing Policies**

To address housing shortages, President Trump aims to ease regulations to help developers increase housing supply and reduce costs. The administration supports selling federal lands for housing construction and may revisit efforts to privatize government-controlled entities like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. 

**Tax Policies**

Facing the expiration of first-term tax cuts in 2025, President Trump has pledged to make those cuts permanent and proposes additional deductions, such as eliminating taxes on tips and allowing auto loan interest deductions. Congress will need to assess these proposals in light of the nation's $2 trillion deficit.
